Vic: Partner of social security fraudster also convicted

MELBOURNE, Jan 11 AAP - The de facto husband of a woman who cheated the Commonwealth
government out of more than $170,000 worth of benefits was today convicted of similar
offences.

Allan Hook, 49, of Bayswater Road, Kensington, pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates
Court to one count of defrauding the Commonwealth between 1992 and 1999.

Defence counsel Andrew George said Hook had claimed a disability support pension at
a single persons rate after he fell off a building in 1991 while working as a handyman.
