WA: Cyclone Nicholas soon to be a tropical low

PERTH, Feb 20 AAP - Tropical cyclone Nicholas is expected to run out of puff today,
a week after it began threatening the West Australian coast.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Scott Carpentier said Nicholas, which was a category
one cyclone just off Carnarvon late this morning, would be a tropical low by tonight.

"It is a decaying cyclone," Mr Carpentier said.

The town of Exmouth in the mid-north of WA was battered yesterday by the then category
two cyclone, but emerged largely unscathed, before it veered away …
