FED:72 all as picture becomes clearer

The major parties look set to secure 72 lower house seats each as the final makeup
of the house of representatives becomes clearer.

The seat of Brisbane remains the only seat in doubt .. although the likely outcome
is for the Coalition to steal the seat from long time Labor member ARCH BEVIS.

The AEC has taken Brisbane off its close list and the ABC's election analyst .. ANTONY
GREEN .. has called the seat for the Coalition's Liberal National Party candidate .. TERESA
GAMBARO.





Western Australia National TONY CROOK .. meanwhile .. has confirmed he does not wish
to be included in the Coalition's total and considers himself an independent who will
sit on the crossbenches.

With Brisbane all but certain to fall to the Coalition .. and TONY CROOK classified
as an independent .. the final seat count looks set to be Labor 72 .. the Coalition 72
.. five Independents and one Green.

Labor has so far picked up 50.45 per cent of the two party preferred vote to the Coalition's
49.55 per cent.

So far 82 per cent of the vote have been counted.
